Good review / review of C99?

I just got a comment on Compound Literals wrong and, in the process, came across variable arrays. It is clear that I live under a rock. What should I read to get a good understanding of the main new features in C99?

Harbison and Steele C: A Reference Manual , 5th ed., Covers basic C99 features, and it's one of the best references for C anyway.

A freely available draft (PDF) of the C99 standard is available here .
