Sunspot and Carrot2 rails

I am using sunspot_rails gem for rails app. Is there a way to integrate carrot2 engine into rails app? Obviously, carrot2 is part of a sunspot since it is commented out in solr configurations. But I would like to know if someone has already integrated it.
