Apple Launcher visible behind part of the app

Our search bar should look like this:

And here's what happens sometimes:

Note that the iOS launcher is visible behind the search bar. WTF, right? It shouldn't be possible, but we've seen it 2-3 times, each time without a clear set of steps to reproduce.

So, I'm interested in answers to any of these questions, from least useful to most:

  • Have you seen this before? (Details please.)
  • What could be causing this?
  • Do you know how to solve this?

That Springboard.app is the last buffered drawing - the application is not visually open behind your application. This means your buffer has gone crazy due to misapplication of paint code. On Mac OS X this results in distorted windows.
