Export Asp.net SSRS 2008 (RDLC) to Excel report
I need to write an SSRS (RDLC) report with Sub Report and directly export the report to Excel on asp.net button click event.
Can someone please help me on if this can be done without installing SSRS i.e. is liscense required?
SSRS report should show each group in a separate sheet.eg file if there are 3 states, the report should show data for each state in different Excel sheets.
I tried to do this with a Crystal report, but the Crystal report does not support multiple sheets.
Thank.

I'm pretty sure every option for parsing SSRS reports available from Microsoft requires a license and installation on either the server or client where the .rdl is parsed. (Does Microsoft provide any software that does not require any kind of license agreement?)
But some licenses do not require purchase and are available..rdlc files can be parsed and displayed in the ReportViewer control, which requires .NET and "Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 Redistributable Package" If you look at this page, you will see that SSRS is only required for server processing mode.

There is a "Pagebreak" property that you have to set on a table or table or other element to force a new tab and then set the "Pagename" property on both before the page break and the item after the page break. These names will appear on the tabs when the report is exported to Excel. For more information: Report Design: Naming Excel Tables and Exporting to Microsoft Excel (Report Builder and SSRS) .
