How to get iPad Retina simulator to show in XCode 4.2, Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Loepard)

i'v was looking to start developing my app for the new iPad (iPad-3). But I couldn't find a place where I can download / update my XCode to get the retina display simulator . Apple released XCode 4.3.1 with the iOS 5.1 SDK . But it requires Mac OS 10.7.3 (Lion). Is it mandatory for me to upgrade myself to Leo in order to start developing iPad retina apps or can I get the same in Snow Leopard ???

I tried to install the same from Snow leopard and failed with the error "Xcode cannot be installed on Macintosh HD because Mac OS X version 10.7.3 or later is required."

So updated to Lion 10.7.3 and took Xcode 4.3.1 from the Mac App Store which was released on March 7, 2012.

Yes, you need to upgrade to Lion.

I have the same problem and found this link which might be interesting: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/100229-snow-leopard-sdk-5-1-a.html

Not sure if you can submit your apps to the Apple store when they are built this way.
