Rebuild Facebook comment box or Live Stream with Graph API?

After analyzing something tangible in this thread,

The main problem is this: the site is fully responsive, but none of its hundreds of facebook social plugins. This means that when the site is scaled up or down to fit and a given browser size, all facebook widgets remain fixed and thus break the grid.

So the obvious solution is not to use any of the pre-built facebook widgets for Live Chat (Live Stream plugin) or comments (comments plugin), but instead create your own widgets and make them responsive. But. I cannot find ANY information on whether it is possible to recreate, for example, the facebook comment plugin using the Graph API. Ideally I would like to have the same functionality as in the previously made widgets.

Any information that could lead me in the right direction here would be deeply appreciated!
