Centering JLabels inside JPanels

I am doing an assessment program, but I have a problem. What I was trying to do was to have a JPanel at the top that contains two JPanels, which in turn contains two command names. I am confused as to why the two JLabels at the top of the program are not centered within the JPanels they are contained in.

Calling pack()

is a critical step in using layouts. This example uses JLabel.CENTER

and GridLayout

to center the marks equally as the frame is resized. For simplicity, the center bar is just a placeholder. This slightly more complex example uses a similar approach along with java.text.MessageFormat

.

do I apply to my code?

Just run pack()

as shown in the examples provided. I don't see an easy way to get rid of your current approach to sizing by appearance. Instead, override getPreferredSize()

in JPanel

for main content. Regardless of the screen size, your implementation paintComponent()

must adapt to the current size, for example .
