In Android Map v2 API, how to get the screen image?

It looks like the new android v2 api map (which is really cool, third parties can access rotating maps, etc. thanks to google!) DOES NOT allow easy access to the screen image (we would like to keep the screen image for splitting, etc.) etc.)

Fortunately not, for obvious privacy and security reasons. Apps cannot take screenshots except as root or with multiple threat-protected devices.
