When you have a keycombination C-x

, I would like some events to fire on these key combinations, waiting for the next input.

For example, I would like when I click C-x

to open a new buffer with some text and then a new command follows, say C-f

then this command just follows.

So one would be able to open a cheat sheet for the next commands every time the first key is pressed and then exit when the final command was selected.

(a suggestion for tags for this post is welcome as I don't know the relevant ones)

You can take a look at Icicles , it offers completion for shortcut keys, so after typing Cx you can get a list of possible tweaks for that prefix.
