Why is WiX not working in Visual Studio 2012 Express?

Looking for a free installer that integrates with Visual Studio 2012 Express. I've read some great information about Windows Installer XML (WiX), but it looks like it won't work out of the box with Visual Studio Express. Are there any jobs? I was wondering why free and open source cannot or cannot support project templates in the Express Edition, but it can in all others. Is this a built-in barrier from Microsoft to get people to update?

Visual Studio Express does not support third party extensibility. This is a limitation that Microsoft has placed on all free editions of Visual Studio. Since Wix is maintained as an open source project, it cannot integrate as deeply into Visual Studio Express as possible, into Visual Studio Professional or better.
You can still call Wix from the command line or WixEdit .
