Color recognition on itunes
When you select to view an album in iTunes and click on the cover art, iTunes expands the color bar corresponding to the cover art. Interestingly, the font colors and highlight colors are also chosen to match the cover well. I'm working on an algorithm that does the same, but haven't found a good solution to automatically find the dominant colors in an image. My best solution is to take the corresponding median values โโfor r, g and b. Any better ideas?

There was a great blog post recently about finding dominant colors in images using k-tool clustering . I'm not sure how well this applies to your situation, but it might be a great starting point.
