New Relic Monitoring for Play 2.0.4 and 2.1

I am trying to find a monitoring tool for my application built on Play 2.X. However, most of the answers I have found point to this thread.

Also another SO comment mentions that New Relic does not currently support Play 2.X.

We are using a new relic from Play 2.1 / Scala 2.10. Play / Scala / Netty support was introduced in New Relic 2.19.0. This version had stability issues (memory consumption, performance issues while monitoring). These issues were fixed at the same time (New Relic Agent 2.20).

New relic just updated its java agent to work with Netty server and played 2 frameworks: https://newrelic.com/docs/java/new-relic-for-java

Unfortunately, I don't think there is currently a good way to get new relic stats from the Play 2.x app.
