CMS for multiple domains in one language

We have a website based in the USA (for example www.example.com). We were commissioned to create several sites for UK and Australian users. They will both have different domains (eg www.example.co.uk and www.example.co.au). These sites will share the same generic pages. About 80% of the content is the same for all versions, but there will be several sections such as contacts, partners and product offerings that differ from each other.

Example

The US site (www.example.com) has 4 pages:

  • home
  • ABOUT
  • Products
  • Contact

The UK website (www.example.co.uk) also has the same pages

  • Home (Same as US with minor differences like banner images. URL would be www.example.co.uk)
  • A (Different content, url must be www.example.co.uk/about)
  • Products (same as USA with little variety of content to host, but url must be www.example.co.uk/services)
  • Contact (Various content, url must be www.example.co.uk/contact)

How do I set up a UK and AU version setting on a site that uses the same backend and most of the same content as a US site, but has a few differences between pages and different domains?

Can you recommend some good CMS tools to help achieve this?

As far as I can tell, most CMSs will be able to provide you with some form of content sharing.

It depends on the amount of content you have, if you have a relatively small set (e.g. 4 pages in your answer) then your best bet is to just duplicate the pages. If you are looking at dozens, hundreds or more documents, then you should look at a properly structured approach.

Can you tell us about the number of documents?

Go for Typo3! Supports multi-domain and multilingual sites very effectively. After completing development for one domain, you don't even need a developer to add additional domains. That is, you don't need to code multiple domains, you just need to learn a few things.
