Avast detects SciPy as a virus?

I installed scipy from here . On loading, avast found scipy loaded as malicious (64-bit for python 3.4). I disabled the safe because I was pretty sure it was not malicious, I have used this site for a ton of python modules and never had a problem. But when I used the linear interpolation module, Avast found the same "virus". Is this real or false positive?

From the website:

The files are unofficial (meaning: unofficial, unrecognized, personal, unsupported, no warranty, no liability, provided "as is") and provided for testing and evaluation.

I doubt this is indeed a malicious Python module. I'm sure Avast thinks this is just a malicious "script" as it has never encountered this and is not that popular (since in my experience most Python users use some form of * nix and probably antivirus doesn't work). If you have access to the source code you can view it yourself, just double check.

Most likely because it is not certified by any major software company, "unofficial". Scan the file after downloading just to be safe.
