Java - Selenium with PhantomJS to download file from server

Is there a way to upload a file from a server using PhantomJS with selenium ?? please help. I heard that this feature is missing from PhantomJS. but is there a workaround for this? I saw an issue opened at # 10052 that says there is no function in phantomJS yet to upload or upload files to the server
