Can I make comments private on certain disqus topics?

I have some urls where I want comments to be displayed only to people who have access to this page.

As is now, these comments and users are referred to in the Community tab as Top Commenters and Top Discussions. I want to omit any of these comments displayed here.

I thought it might be controllable in config variables, but I don't see it yet.

At the time of the answer, there is no concept of "private" threads on Disqus. However, there are several methods to shadow streams so that they are not easy to detect / publish. This is suitable for invite / read discussions.



  • Register a new Disqus short name: https://disqus.com/admin/register - This prevents aggregation of streams and top users in your "public" section

  • Use this new name on the "private" pages of your website.

  • Optionally, you can enable pre-moderation for all comments and simply whitelist to users you don't want to pre-moderate.
