NSNetServiceBrowser, how to stop, timeout

What is the standard procedure for completing a NSNetServiceBrowser search? I'm in a situation where I'm looking for one device. If I don't find devce, then I need to finish searching and tell the user that I haven't found anything. I cannot find any kind of timeout in the online links. I feel like I am missing something. How do people usually deal with this problem?
