Setting up django with uwsgi and nginx

I am trying to use a django 1.5 app with uwsgi and nginx. The following is my ini file

[uwsgi]
# variables
projectname = mysite
projectdomain = mysite.in
base = /home/shwetanka/projects/me/mysite

# config
plugins = python
master = true
protocol = uwsgi
env = DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=%(base)/%(projectname).settings
#pythonpath = %(base)/src/%(projectname)
module = %(base)/mysite/wsgi.py
socket = 127.0.0.1:8889
logto = %(base)/logs/uwsgi.log
#below line runs it as a daemon in background
daemonize = /var/log/uwsgi/mysite.log

I am getting this error in the logs -

How do I get it to work?

ImportError: Import by filename is not supported.

The directive --module

expects a module, not a file. Should be used instead --wsgi-file

.

You need to call the django module: --module mysite.wsgi:application

And don't forget to add: --env DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=mysite.settings

For example, a working command line (assuming your current directory is your project at home):

uwsgi --socket mysite/zohosel.sock  --module mysite.wsgi:application --env DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=mysite.settings --home=/path/to/your/venv --chmod-socket=666

Some more information and arguments can be found on the django docs website .
And by the way, this readthedocs tutorial helped me a lot.

If you can use correctly python manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8000

,

then run uwsgi --http :8000 --module mysite.wsgi

in the same directory mysite

- this is the name of the django project.
