MySQL Workbench - First Connection "Internal Error"

I am new to SQL and MySQL Workbench. After creating my first connection, I tested it and it passed, but when I clicked OK I got this error. Does anyone know what this means? Thank:

"Internal error

Exception encountered while processing an action from the main screen: an error calling the Python module function WbAdmin.autoDetectLocalInstance "

Try running MySql Workbench as administrator.

For Xubuntu to work:

sudo mysql-workbench
