Change locale (language) inside the app in the Settings app

I want the user to be able to change the language of the application (strings are in folders like strings-de / strings.xml or strings-zh / strings.xml). It works fine when I change my phone settings to Chinese or whatever, but I'm trying the following: I have a MainActivity with multiple fragments, and in my action bar, I have a settings icon, when the user clicks on it, the Activity parameter opens, and I have a menu item where the user can select their preferred language. When the user clicks on it, the application should reload and use my strings from the selected language. How can I achieve this? and in what activity does this code belong? thank you in advance.

here's my settingsActivity:

    private static final boolean ALWAYS_SIMPLE_PREFS = false;

        super.onPostCreate(savedInstanceState);

    }

    @SuppressWarnings("deprecation")
    private void setupSimplePreferencesScreen() {
        if (!isSimplePreferences(this)) {
            return;
        }

        // In the simplified UI, fragments are not used at all and we instead
        // use the older PreferenceActivity APIs.

        // Add 'general' preferences.
        addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.pref_general);

        // Add 'Cash-Game Ticker' preferences, and a corresponding header.

here's the xml part where the user can choose the language:

<ListPreference

    android:entryValues="@array/pref_language_values"
    android:key="language_list"
    android:negativeButtonText="@null"
    android:positiveButtonText="@null"
    android:title="@string/pref_title_language" />

and here's an array from the language select list:

<string-array name="pref_language_select">

Deutsch

English

中文

Espanol

Magyar

Srpski

Nederlands

</string-array>
<string-array name="pref_language_values">

de

en

zh

es

mg

sr

nl

</string-array>

I hope someone can help me, thanks in advance!

interesting..try this:

Configuration config = getBaseContext().getResources().getConfiguration();

    String lang = "fr"//get your language here as you see fit
    if ( ! config.locale.getLanguage().equals(lang))
    {
        locale = new Locale(lang);
        Locale.setDefault(locale);
        config.locale = locale;
        getBaseContext().getResources().updateConfiguration(config, getBaseContext().getResources().getDisplayMetrics());
    }

and if it works for you then I am worried about onconfig changes. You will have to do this exact thing again when handling configuration changes, I assume.
