IOS App Store and iMovie App Preview

Just trying to create an iOS AppStore app preview and fail. Managed to grab a video and Spielberg will be impressed with my editing (in iMovie), but then iTunes Connect requires the iPad (landscape) preview to be 1200x900, which is not supported by iMovie. Does anyone know how this should be done?

thank

As of September 2014, Apple has updated iMovie, so if you select "New App Preview" and put Quicktime captured footage from iPad, it will be 900 x 1200 or 1200 x 900.

Do you still have iMovie 9 on your Mac? Even if you upgrade, it still lives on your system and typing "imovie 9" in Spotlight should bring it up. For iPad, the preview of iMovie 9 is much better as you can take 4: 3 videos and then export them at 1200x900.

To export to iMovie 9, use the Export from Quicktime option, which opens up a prompt that gives you much more control over the export. 1200x900 is not a selectable option from any dropdown, but this export from the quicktime option allows you to enter whatever custom resolution you want. As long as the original files are 1200x900 or larger, there should be no degradation.

If you don't have iMovie 9 as an option, you'll have to use Final Cut or some other program.

iMovie doesn't support custom canvas sizes - so you'll need to use Final Cut Pro (30-day trial available) or something like Camtasia.
