Streaming Spotify Track Using Web API

I'm not very happy with the Windows Phone Spotify app. I am looking into developing my own Spotify client using web API. It looks like it's not possible to upload a track using the Web API after getting the track metadata. Is this conclusion correct? Is there any other way to make this work using the uri / href / spotify url track? Will it be available in the Web API in the near future?
