IPhone Simulator launches wrong code

I cannot get the iPhone Simulator to run the current code. Instead, it runs the old build. Does anyone know why? Simulation starts and stops as usual, but somehow Xcode and Simulator lost connection. The simulator ignores any changes to your code, and Xcode ignores any breakpoints. I have:

  • Removed application in the simulator.
  • Reset content and settings in the simulator.
  • Clean up the project in Xcode.
  • The project was removed from the organizer.
  • Rebooted Xcode and computer.

System Information:

  • Xcode 6.0.1
  • iOS Simulator 8.0
  • OS X 10.10

If someone can tell me why this is happening, I would be very grateful! By the way, I can run the code on the device without any problem.

When I upgraded to Xcode 6.1 and downloaded the new iOS 7.1 Simulator (available at Xcode / Preferences / Downloads), it started working again. So updating or just reinstalling Xcode seems to fix this issue.

EDIT: I recently got the same problem again and this time I fixed it by going to Project Navigator / Targets / Build Settings / Build Locations. Changed Build Products path text to something random and changed it again.

Sometimes, if you move your project folder, it seems like Xcode is losing traces of its build folder. By doing this, Xcode is rebuilding its build path. So try this method first.

Try resetting the contents and settings of the simulator. As the picture shows:

Cleaning up and restoring the project can also help.
