Is the English OK button acceptable for Japanese dialogue?

Just a quick question about an Anglo-Japanese software translation project: I have seen many screenshots of Japanese dialog boxes with a standard OK button. is this ok, or would Japanese characters be more convenient for Japanese users?

For what it's worth, Microsoft seems to be quite satisfied with "OK" in the Japanese user interface, according to their localization guide:

I'm not a native Japanese speaker, but my personal student experience is that "OK" will be a completely normal UI element. The Latin alphabet is widely used for loanwords in Japan, so it won't look strange to everyone.
