Can I use the old TestFlight service to test the iOS versions of my app?

It's not clear to me if the old TestFlight service can still be used to test iOS apps. I've seen a lot of information from various places about iTunes Connect, external users, internal users, restrictions, etc., but nothing about the old service.

Do I need to go through iTunes Connect to test earlier versions of my app, or can I use the old TestFlight service where I provisioned devices using UDIDs? One of the reasons I ask is the recently released Apple TestFlight app which only supports iOS8 - our target platform is iOS7 and below, so it seems we can't even use this service.

Yes, you can use the old TestFlight instead of the Apple TestFlight . However, in order to use the old TestFlight, you must already register for an account before they are partially closed.

Apple has officially turned off the old test drive .

If you don't have an account but still want the freedom of the old TestFlight , you can try testing HockeyApp , however it costs money.

I had the same question and decided to ask the guys at TestFlightApp.com . I hope their answer will help you.

You can keep using TestFlightAppl.com. Please note that TestFlightApp.com and the TestFlight app in the Apple Store are separate services. Accounts and applications are not shared between the two services.

Beta TestFlight from TestFlightApp.com can only be installed via the TestFlight web clip / bookmark or via www.testflightapp.com. TestFlight app that is targeting the new TestFlight service in iTunes Connect in the Apple Store ( https://developer.apple.com/app-store/testflight/ ).

So yes, you can continue using TestFlightApp.com

The "old" service Testflight tesflightapp.com will close on February 26, 2015. This is what Apple announced on January 27:

With the new version of the TestFlight service available inside iTunes Connect, we also inform you that TestFlightapp.com will no longer be available as of 02/26/2015.

To prepare for TestFlightapp.com shutdown, we recommend that you export all of your current testers so that they can be imported directly into the new TestFlight test service.

How to export testers from TestFlightapp.com

  • Log into the TestFlight test panel at testflightapp.com
  • Go to the "People" tab.
  • Check those you would like to export.
  • Open the Actions menu on the right side of your teammate list.
  • Select "Export Contact Information" to download the exported CSV file.

How to import testers into new TestFlight test case

  • Log into iTunes Connect at itunesconnect.apple.com
  • Click "My Apps"
  • Select the app you want to enable for beta testing.
  • Go to the "Pre-Release" tab and select "External Testers"
  • Click the plus sign to add new external testers
  • Use the "Import File" on the "Add New External Testers" page to load the exported CSV file.
