How do I remove a component in RTC?

I created a thread and a component; and added the same component to the stream. But now I want to remove the component. Can I delete?

I know I can remove a component from the stream, but since this component I don't want to remove it.

Please let me know if it is possible to delete.

This is not possible today (2014, RTC5 +)

history 163568 (you need a free jazz.net account to see it) has been tracking this feature request since April 2011.

What you can do is change your ownership, either to your account, or put it in the RTC Administrator account.

Once a component is owned by a person (as opposed to belonging to the project area or team area), it becomes "invisible" to other project participants.

As mentioned in this thread :

  • You can remove the component from the stream,
  • you can rename it and use it for something later, or
  • you can change the owner to the owner of the garbage collector so that it doesn't show up in the UI.

The same flow suggests:

Well, there is a way to clean it up.

  • Create a new personal workspace (some admin user not in regular projects)
  • On the workspace editor page, add the specific component names to the new workspace.
  • Now click on each component you want to hide and select Change Owner

, making them owned by the same person who owns the workspace (instead of the project that owns the component).
Please note that you do not get a "chance" to opt out of this change. Even before you save your workspace.
  • Save workspace editor window

The components are not removed, but they are no longer visible to anyone. (except owner)
I also made my personal workspace private.
