Testing Mac Installer Package with Xcode 6

Before submitting my Mac app to the App Store, I use the following procedure to test the installation package:

Testing the Mac Installer package - Apple documentation

This mainly concerns archiving the application, exporting as a Mac installation package, and installing it using:

sudo installer -store -pkg .... -target /

Since I have upgraded to Xcode 6, I always get a signature error when starting the application [EXC_CRASH (Invalid Code Signing)]:

Exactly the same app as not this problem using Xcode 5.

Any suggestion?

This is driving me crazy as I am not sure to submit the application to Apple.

Eventually I contacted Apple support and they answered that the procedure was:

1) Export your app as a Mac Application

2) productbuild --component <APP>.app /Applications <APP>.pkg --sign "3rd Party Mac Developer Installer:"

3) sudo installer -store -pkg <APP>.pkg -target /

The documentation does not mention point # 2!

This does not affect the viewing of the application. If your archive is verified, you can just submit your app and it should work fine when downloaded from the app store.

Apple Technical Q&A QA1884 document (from 2015-01-26) covers this topic:

When I run my Mac app, it crashes immediately and the crash log says Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (Invalid Code Signature). What's going on here?

... Common Mac app builds cannot run directly; they are intended to be submitted to iTunes Connect for viewing applications only.

The document suggests some work around.
