Google Maps insert interferes with my font weight

When Google Maps inserts loads into my site, it strips all font from my font. I am using open sans from google fonts at 400 and 700 weights. They initialize correctly and then load google maps and seem to drop all font weight down to 300. I think it has something to do with the roboto font that comes with the google maps api. Any help would be appreciated!
