Can't get Instagram API security code
I am testing Instagram API
for a client and use my personal account for testing purposes only.
I have registered the application at instagr.am/developer/ . When they asked for my phone number, I just gave them a random sequence of numbers as I don't want them to have my number. Then, when I try to proceed with the Client registration, they say that I have to verify my phone number in order to create the Client ID.
I'm tired of editing mine Instagram profile
with my correct phone number, but it asks for my security code again. And I got nothing on my mobile. I entered my number with 00 [country code]
and+[country code]
The problem is I gave them the wrong number. How can I fix this or start from scratch with the correct phone number.

I am getting the same error, except that I did not give them the wrong phone number ... I have now tried with multiple numbers and from different operators and still have not received a text message.
EDIT: I just managed to get it to work using this link: http://sms-verification.com/rec/%2B4796667263.php It gives you access to the Norwegian number (+4796667263) and shows you text messages. After trying a few numbers from every operator in Portugal and still not getting a response, I noticed people were using this to check Instagram, so I tried it as a last resort and it worked amazingly!

I was getting the same error too and I found this answer on another site:
'What Instagram has to tell you is that you need to add the country code. For me in Australia I would enter + 61xxxxxxxxxx. In America it will be +1 followed by your phone number. DO NOT ADD SPACES, MAKE SURE TO ADD + '
However, if you've already put in your mobile number and you've done it wrong, like I did, then all you have to do is log into instagram.com/developer from the NEW browser.
I first used Google Chrome and I tried to log out and then back in, update, but still got the security code validation every time. So again I was unable to enter my mobile number.
Then I tried to log in through Safari, and surprisingly it gave me the ability to verify my mobile, so I added my number correctly this time and got my “verification code” a few seconds later.
