How to Find Radio Hardware in Android Software?

I am new to android, is it possible to find Radio hardware in android software? I noticed that android does not have a default radio app, so I must first check in my app if radio hardware is present in the device. Are there other open source projects in Android Radio.? please help me how to solve this problem.
