Xcode buttons, images disappear

Does anyone else have any problems with their storyboard elements? Most recent instance: I have disabled the "Highlighted Adjusts Image" on the button and the next thing I know is everything in my view, the dispatcher disappears EXCEPT for my UIImage background. So this included a shortcut, a UIImage with a responder attached, and two buttons. I switched to the newest version of XCode, but it didn't result in MY GUMDROP BUTTONS being returned :(

I redid my look about 4 times and was aging ... Any thoughts? Thank.

Wow I feel like an ass. I don’t know if this was the problem every time, BUT somehow my damn elements were placed "under" my background UIImage element. I opened my document and I don't know, somehow my background image flapped above all my other elements (at the top of the list under the parent view) ... and I'm posting this a few minutes after my original question was posted, I feel dumb ... happy holidays!
