HAXM Installer for Android SDK

I recently downloaded Android Studio, but I have problems getting it running. Every time I try to start the emulator, I get the following error:

emulator: ERROR: x86 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration! Please make sure Intel HAXM is properly installed and available. CPU acceleration state: HAX kernel module not installed!

I am trying to run this on Lenovo Yoga. When I look in the Android SDK manager, it shows that the HAXM installer has been downloaded, but the file path it gives doesn't actually exist on my computer. Any ideas for a fix would be greatly appreciated. I am not computer savvy, so please try to drop your answers. Many thanks!
