How to display tab numbers

Is there a way to display the tab number in the tab bar?

I like to use Alt+ 1or Alt+ 2etc. to switch between open tabs, however it can get taxed to count the tabs (for me anyway). It would be nice if the tabs were numbered.

You might be able to write a plugin for it, but ST3 doesn't have the same standard feature as the latest Build 3083, ST3.
