Rails elastic search relationship attributes are not indexed
Basically I have 3 models (book, chapter, author) and I want to include some attributes of books and author when indexing the chapter.
here is my Chapter.rb

Then why am I not getting author_name, book_title, etc. in search results

You are defining the wrong serialization method. Elasticsearch::Model
searches for a method as_indexed_json
and you define to_indexed_json
. In the elasticity model of the search model, you can find examples https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch-rails/blob/master/elasticsearch-model/examples/activerecord_associations.rb#L82
It should look something like this:
def as_indexed_json(options = {})
as_json methods: [:book_title, :book_type, :author_name]
