Why did wwahost.exe get an unhandled win32 exception in Windows 8 Cordova causing an unhandled win32 exception?

We are building an application in Cordova via VS 2013 for Windows 8.1. When a user "clicks" an anchor tag on one of our pages, we get an "unhandled win32 exception in wwahost.exe".

We checked our registry for this question: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/811191 and everything is correct by default.

We get an error First-chance exception...

every time we look at the debugger. Not sure if this is due to an app or visual studio issue.

There is a faster workaround for this, which should work for most applications; before you click and get the WWAHost.exe exception, close the DOM Explorer window. This should allow you to debug by hitting breakpoints etc. If you need to use DOM Ex (against Windows target) I would suggest trying Kenneth's solution.

The only job I found that allowed me to debug the Hybrid Windows Store Apps was using remote debugging on the anther machine. Kind of a pain if you don't have two machines, but you can use a virtual machine as your remote machine.

I experienced a similar input tags issue on Windows 8.1 with my Cordova app. This is supposed to only happen to users with touchscreen tablets. Here's my code for a simple upload / preview image button.

Turns off when VS crashed, it became corrupted. I reinstalled the installation and chose "repair" and now it's ok.
