Nios 2 Gen 2 Exceptional Information

I created a design in Qsys in which I am using a Nios II Gen2 processor. When running the software for this hardware in the Nios II Eclipse IDE, I get an exception, but the reason for the exception cannot be determined. I found out that I need to include more information on exceptions, or enable MPU or MLU for information on exceptions. There is no option to include additional information on exceptions in Nios II Gen 2 as in the Nios II Classic processor. Also, the inclusion of an MLU or MPU does not lead to any additional information about the exceptions and the reason for the exception in the unknown. How can I find out what is causing this exception without going back to the Nios II Classis processor?
