SonarQube Analysis Timeout

We previously discussed the issue with the now closed SonarQube user mailing list .

The problem was solved by sharing for about half a week, optimizing the Postgre DB, then the problem stuck again.

We are using Jenkins 1.612 using SonarQube Jenkins Plugin 2.2.1, Sonar 5.1 using Postgre 9.1 base.

  • We have about 20 JAVA projects / branches running, using a lot of legacy code and having about 1.2 million LOC and 130k questions.
  • There are about 30 projects of JAVA project modules having 1K-20K LOC and less than 2k.
  • There are about 50 custom JAVA projects with less than 200k LOCs and less than 10k issues.
  • Our projects are written in JAVA (6/7) and using ANT 50% or Gradle 50% as build tools.

Now we get this error again:

Edit: Health restored: Found a workaround if caused by Jenkins.

In this link there a similar problem for the older version of Sonar. They ran the url regularly to store the request in the database cache. It works for this problem as well.

In Jenkins, I installed the http Request plugin and before releasing the sonar analysis, I run http to get http: // mySonarQube: 9000 / batch / project? Key = myProjectKey & preview = false . This works around a real problem (DB query duration and timeout interval are not appropriate), but it can keep us up and running.


Sonar 5.2 will happen in the next few days. We will check this version and I hope the problems go away ... I'll let you know ...

The problem can be solved in four ways:



  • add additional resources to SonarQube server platform and / or server platform (e.g. faster drives)
  • update SonarQube server to the newest version (for example in SonarQube 5.2 - see release notes )
  • change timeout value in sources and compile custom server
  • add indexes to columns in the database (not recommended, you can read executed SQL commands from logs in debug mode)
