Reconciliation services for OpenRefine not working?

Anyone having trouble reconciling in OpenRefine? I imported a list of American universities and colleges, selected 50 rows and tried the matching services Freebase, DBpedia, OpenCorporates. I used to have numerous successes with DBpedia (for colleges and universities), but now none of them work. (I also looked at all the services listed.) I trimmed leading and trailing spaces, checked for duplicates, etc. Everything worked fine only about two months ago, and I haven't updated OpenRefine in that time. [UPDATED]: I was able to get the reconciliation service to work, but not with the ontology I want. Therefore, either I forget about some key bit of information, or about those services that no longer function in the university or university names.

I had the same reconciliation problem using RDF and DBpedia.org extension. However, if you try another service (like your local file or the Spanish DBpedia ( http://es.dbpedia.org/sparql ) it works very well.

As Owen mentioned, it is likely that this is due to DBpedia. It looks like the problem is with XML 1.1. and a recent update from DBpedia.org, take a look here https://github.com/openlink/virtuoso-opensource/issues/405 If you see the OpenRefine log file or console, this is exactly the same exception we get when doing reconcile with DBpedia. org.

Hope this gives you some idea.

The OpenCorporates Refine service is currently running ( https://opencorporates.com/reconcile ), but note that you need to use https-http, which worked at some point in the past but no more.

Using the RDF Refine extension ( http://refine.deri.ie ) and try SPARQL based negotiation with DBPedia, I find problems at the moment, but using the same approach for other SPARQL services, I have no problem. I don't know what the main reason is for this, but it seems to be due to some issue or change in DBPedia, not OpenRefine or the RDF Refine extension.

Any additional information on how you set up the reconciliation services and what extensions you use may help further diagnose
