C # FTP server never receives an incoming transfer connection after processing EPRT command

I am creating an FTP server that will receive images from a camera and store the photos in a local directory. I am having trouble grabbing a file from a port provided to me. Here's the conversation:

I found the port by converting the last two numbers to hex (93, ED), adding them, and then converting back to decimal. My last port is 37869. Then I create a new one TcpClient

to use as boot, but mine TcpListener

never brings up the camera. Also I'm not sure if my upload method is correct.

Actually my question boils down to this: How do I get the file sent by the client as an FTP server in C #?

Using the command ERTP

(or PORT

), the client tells the server where the client is listening for incoming transmission connections that will be initiated by the server. Instead, you start listening too. So both sides listen and nothing can happen.

So instead, TcpListener

you need to create TcpClient

and actively connect.

See RFC 2428 .



What you have implemented looks like passive mode ( EPSV

or PASV

) while the client is using active mode.


In any case, you're better off using an existing FTP server implementation instead of trying to implement your own.
