Spring boot with application.xml resource fails

I am using the latest Spring Boot 1.2.4 and I have an interesting problem.

When I put an empty application.xml file in the root of the classpath, I get the xml loading problem as well. If I rename it to something like application-config.xml and import it via @ImportResource ({"classpath: application - *. Xml"}) everything works fine.

I also checked and there is only one version of spring - beans in my classpath, so from what I can see this is not a contradictory dependency.

As db80 said in the comments on the original question, you should rename application.xml to something else (ex: application-config.xml) and everything should work as expected.
