When adding a dependency: CDI injection failed, invalid dependencies for type Set <Service> with @Default qualifiers

When I add the twitter hbc dependency to my pom.xml, I get an error. I followed the instructions here. I don't understand if it was a dependency issue, I had to find a fix on the internet, but if I comment out this dependency, my server starts up.

this is mine, which I added to my pom.xml:

   <dependency>
      <groupId>com.twitter</groupId>
      <artifactId>hbc-core</artifactId> <!-- or hbc-twitter4j -->
      <version>2.2.0</version> <!-- or whatever the latest version is -->
    </dependency>

This is mistake:

In short:

Please use a newer version of Guava.

Explanation

I think you have Guava 14 or 15 on the way to your class. The class com.google.common.util.concurrent.ServiceManager

contains @Inject

waiting for a Set

services. This dependency is not available and the container raises the value DeploymentException

.

Solutions

  • Use a newer Guava version (at least 16, the fix was introduced there, see this commit )
  • Disable CDI
  • Introducing a tiny manufacturer

    @Produces Set<Service> dummyServices() {
      return new HashSet<>();
    }

Thanks for this solution. I am using Twilio SMS API which requires it guava-14.0.1.jar

as a dependency. I was getting an exception because

org.glassfish.deployment.common.deploymentexception: CDI deployment failure:WELD-001408 Unsatisfied dependencies for type [Set<Service>] with qualifiers [@Default] at injection point [[BackedAnnotatedParameter] Parameter 1 of [BackedAnnotatedConstructor] @Inject com.google.common.util.concurrent.ServiceManager(Set<Service>)]

I updated the jar to guava-16.0.1.jar

and it works.

Add the latest Guava to your pom.xml file. This will solve your problem.
