Powershell: GetType () to print all type information but much is missing?
I tried to use GetType () to print all the type information but there seems to be a lot of information missing? I have such input in PS 4.0 (see below)
I tried to use "GetType (). GetMethods ()" to list all the methods. But I have not seen
"GetMethods"
in the list of results. I also used "GetProperties ()" to list all the properties, but it looks like there are many more properties like
IsCOMObject
not listed in the result. If I am using Visual Studio + C # I could see a lot more properties listed. Why is powershell missing them?

$ a is a HashTable and your expression gets all the methods of the HashTable class. GetMethods does not appear in the list because it is not a method of the HashTable class, it is a method of the Type class. IsCOMObject does not appear in the list, because again it is not a property of the HashTable class; this is a property of the class Class.
If you want to see everything you can do with an object of type, do something like (C #):
typeof(Type).GetMethods()

You are wrong about the types here. $a.getType()
results in System.RuntimeType
, which actually has a property IsComObject
, and $a.getType().getProperties()
returns properties System.Collections.Hashtable
