PHP cannot insert data
When I use the following code, I cannot insert data. The following error message appears:

You missed adding quotes around each line:
$sql = "INSERT INTO
topics(topic_subject,
topic_date,
topic_cat,
topic_by)
VALUES('" . mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['topic_subject']) . "',
NOW(),
'" . mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['topic_cat']) . "',
'" . $_SESSION['userid'] . "'
)";
You need to add single quotes around the second mysql_real_escape_string
. (And also around yours $_SESSION['userid']
if it contains a string.)
