What is the difference between a boiler plate and a template?

what is the difference between boiler plate and template? I thought they were the same thing. why don't you just say "pattern"?

Simply put,

  • The template provides the structure and layout of the document.
  • The pattern provides actual text and images.


The boiler is what you copy and paste and adapt freely. The template is processed in an orderly manner, never adaptable, but parameterized.
