Is Aptana Studio 3.6.1 Node.js required? What for?

The interactive installation for Aptana Studio 3.6.1 insists on downloading and installing (slightly outdated version) Node.js.

However, if you're doing a passive installation, it doesn't get in the way - and Aptana Studio seems to work just fine. Likewise, if you do an interactive install and then uninstall Node.js, Aptana Studio continues to run, or at least fails to collapse in an instant flashy heap.

I don't see any connection between Aptana Studio and Node.js to begin with. Is it really necessary? If so, why?

Context:

I am installing Aptana studio in my university teaching lab. When installing Node.js at first it is not a problem in itself, this means that an additional piece of software is being tracked, and interdependencies between software products can be a pain - for example, if Aptana Studio is no longer needed that I can uninstall Node.js, or whoever - who started using it for other purposes and forgot to warn me? Also, Node.js does some weird stuff like adding a folder that doesn't exist for the user path.

In short, if I can be sure that this exception will not break anything important, it would be preferable to do so.

After running Aptana Studio 3.6.1 without Node.js for a full semester with no posts (new) I came to the conclusion that Aptana Studio really doesn't need Node.js.
