Best way to let PHP access / dev / random?

My OwnCloud installation is complaining about not having access to /dev/random

. OwnCloud asks for a lot of random numbers from different sources and outputs a finite random number from them, and it /dev/random

is one of those sources.

Add /dev/random

a good idea to open_base_dir? I read somewhere that this is not recommended. Is there a better way to solve this problem?

It is not worth adding dev/urandom

to open_base_dir and this will fix your ownCloud problem, but never add dev/random

(without u) as there may not be enough entropy when generating the number.
