Android java.lang.ClassCastException: android.widget.LinearLayout $ LayoutParams cannot be cast in android.widget.AbsListView $ LayoutParams

I am getting this error when running my application on an older Android phone (Android 4.4.2). The code works on a new phone (Android 5.0) and does not give an error. This is a complete mistake.

I fixed my problem, in my contact adapter I was returning the wrong view inside the getView () function. Reverse image change; to return convertView; fixed the problem for me and it works on all devices I was able to test.
