Why are there no crash messages in the Xcode device log for my iPad Mini?

When I connect one of my devices (iPad mini), open the Xcode Devices window, select my device, and then click the View Device Logs button. I only see an empty list. There are no crash reports. I know there are crash reports because I can see them in the Diagnostics and Usage section of the Mini Settings.

In this view, click "View Device Logs" always shows my crash reports when I have other devices connected.

Attached is a picture of how everything looks normal. This device is selected and a list of crash reports. For my Mini, this list is completely empty even if "This device" is selected.
