Add loyalty to Google Wallet from the app

I followed this site, https://developers.google.com/wallet/objects/savetowalletnative , which shows how to implement a way to create and save a loyalty card in Google Wallet. It seems that the Wallet API does not match the sample code they provided on the site.

Has anyone been able to implement this functionality in an application?
