Neo4j embedded database hangs after abnormal application termination
I am about to make my first Neo4j Embedded database application public and am facing a major blocking issue -
This my previous question with deleting the database where I ran into this problem Effectively clean up the Neo4j database
I use:
OS: Windows 8.1
jdk1.8.0_51
neo4j version 2.2.3
lucene version 3.6.2
spring-data-neo4j version 3.4.0.M1
I noticed that everything works correctly if I use the method graphDatabaseService.shutdown();
before my application finishes. Otherwise the database is destroyed (not only my application, but even the Neo4j server also hangs on this corrupted db when I try to load the embedded db with the Neo4j web frontend).
Is it possible to make more complex fault tolerance of the Neo4j Embedded database? I will lose all my data after the first error (like a blackout event) in production.
I spent a few days on this problem, but I have no idea how to do it yet. Please, help.

I found a common source for this problem, but have no idea how to fix it.

I have automatically opened 4 fields that use Neo4j internally (DAO, repos, etc.). Neo4j hangs on reboot after unclean shutdown when these fields are present inside my WebSecurityConfig. When I comment out these fields, the problem goes away.
What could be wrong?

I can confirm that this issue is related to the following fix - https://github.com/neo4j/neo4j/commit/c9596af0d990d7dde9a9053799b7295985ae3c05
I applied the changes to this commit and the problem went away.
So right now I'm waiting for the release of Neo4j 2.2.4.
Do you know the planned release date for Neo4j 2.2.4?

In the case of an unclean shutdown, the expected behavior is an automatic recovery operation on next startup (which may take some time). In the past few years, I have not experienced Neo4j in a state not recovering from an unclean shutdown.
For built-in use cases, be sure to call gdb.shutdown()
in JVM Load .
